Confessional, Blackburn, Holy Trinity Church, September 2015

I was immensely proud to be invited to take part in the Confessional gig at a disused church called The Holy Trinity in Blackburn on Saturday the 26th of September 2015. The church was taken over for 12 hrs. for a music gig that Blackburn desperately needed and it was heaving. For my part I stencilled off the name of the music gig and let everyone run riot over the painting. Musicians and music fans alike all came over to make their mark on the painting, some writing messages, some making small paintings or designs while others made contact with the paint creating grand gestures with their whole arm. At one point this painting seemed like it was not going to work out as the colours started to muddy as they mixed so I spent some time dabbing the painting dry and then squeezed paint at it to help give it some contrast. I had no need to worry though as when it came to peeling the stencils off it all came together. This was a great experience for me and hopefully for all those who took part.

Degree Show, Mass Shooting at Blackburn College

The mass shooting painting is one of my later attempts to break away from using traditional stencil processes and replace stencils with flesh. It was painted on the outside of the Degree show building which was knocked down two weeks after the Degree show was taken down. It formed a big part of my degree show standing at 8ft high and 27ft long and due to the fact that it was an outside wall I had to wright up a proposal to get this accepted. It also made the local newspapers and formed part of the advertising campaign for the degree show, for more information on this follow the link.
